Uses of Essential Oils

Bath

A variety of combinations of essential oils can be added in your bath tub to suit your mood. Try 10 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Patchouli for a good night’s sleep. For a sensuous bath, for two try a combination of 10 drops of Ylang-Ylang, 3 drops of Geranium and 2 drops of Patchouli. For sensitive skin, it is advisable to dilute the oil in base oils like sweet almond, apricot or peach kernel and olive oil, etc.

After the oils are added, soak in the vapours for 15 minutes and enjoy your bath. Essential oils should be dispersed thoroughly; else it will create plastic baths. Wipe the bath immediately after use.

Diffuser

Aroma lamps add a bit of magic to the atmosphere of any room. An aroma lamp is usually made from ceramic, marble, glass or porcelain, with a small container for water that is heated by a small candle (T-Light) or light bulb. Add a few drops of essential oil to the water. The number of drops depends on the size of the room and on the desired intensity of the aroma. Usually 5 to 15 drops are sufficient. The rising water vapour disperses the fragrance molecules in the air.

Happy Feet

Refresh tired feet by adding 4-5 drops of Peppermint, Rosemary and Thyme each to a large bowl of warm water. Lavender helps soothe those sore toes.

Add 3 -4 drops of Patchouli or Comfrey into a bowl of warm water and soak your hands. This soothes your hands and heals chapped skin. You can also do this before a manicure.
PILLOW TALK: Add 2 – 3 drops of essential oils on your pillow. Each oil has its own unique effect. If one helps you relax, the other gives you a good sleep. Ylang Ylang is best known as an aphrodisiac

Pot Pourri

Add a few drops of an appropriate flowery or spicy essential oil to refresh old or used pot pourri.

When you combine essential oils with massage, you enter a world of healing enhanced with the touch of healing hands and the aroma of healing fragrance. This in itself will help lift depression and promote healing in the body. Massage is one of the most effective ways of using essential oils.

Please DO NOT use essential oils directly on body. Mix them with carrier oils like sweet almond, jojoba oil, coconut, olive oil, etc.
